This invitation is special indeed, and speaks volumes to your academic excellence as over 1,100 students applied, and your application was chosen to be among the Honors Freshman class of 2012. Now is the time to capitalize on your high school success and choose University Honors as the place that will support the next phase of your academic journey.

04/14/12 - Highlander Day at University of California, Riverside
Next Step: University of California, Riverside
I am actually excited for college. I admit UCR was not the place I initially saw myself spending the next four years at. Being a part of the inland empire wasn’t really appealing. It’s hot and what can you do there? Amazingly enough in a one week span I actually saw the benefits. One of the most attractive points is that I am far enough away from home, but close enough to come back when I want to. An hour drive isn’t so bad. That means I can dorm!!!!!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeee. Can’t wait. I am an only child so I’m not too sure how I will manage with a roommate though. It might be hard transitioning from Orange County to Riverside, but hey I get to experience some place new. I was also convinced when I talked to students from UCR and gained insight on life there. I think one of the things I was worried most about was whether there was going to be shopping malls or not. LOL. Another upside for going to UCR is that my uncle lives pretty close to the campus. I have someone to turn to for help or emergencies whenever I need it. It’s a little worrying when you move to a new place and you don’t know the area. But I think the most reassuring thing that made me less hesitant on choosing to attend UCR is that one of my closest friends will be going there with me. That’s right, I’m talking about you Tina Pham [Tina Lame (Mistress#1)]. You are noteworthy enough to be mentioned in my tumblr post. The day we got rejected from our dream school, we consoled each other that UCR wasn’t going to be so bad. Now I’m thrilled thinking about what elective classes we will be taking there. :D Oh man… and the financial aid package they give at UCR. If I get approved for every aid possible it seems that I will only have to pay about $6000 a year, instead of $32,000. Now I can’t wait to attend Highlander Day on April 14th. It also seems like a lot of other people from my high school will also be going there. I won’t be a complete loner! Yay! The most stressful decision I think I have to make now is to decide which residence hall I want to live in.
Of course there are downsides on going to UCR. I don’t personally know any current students attending. :\ Well Tina does, so hopefully I can get advice on my classes and how to make the most of my college experience. Being away from my other friends and David is also a little depressing but we will meet up once in a while for sure. We will all go to Disneyland together! I am planning on kidnapping Yen and take her to my dorms as well, whether she is going to UCI or UCSD. Hehehehehehe. :) Thaoly I hope your appeal files through. I’ll miss you too! Duong (aka Dewgong aka Dr VOn Fluffles) is definitely heading towards success and it’s hard to imagine not having my other half of the duet not there with me. Forever manga buddies though! <3 As long as Pandora Hearts continues haha. I’ll miss Ky Ha too. I’m not sure where she will be going yet but she is seriously someone I can never forget. Even if we got a little distant over the years, we have the type of relationship that can immediately pick up where it left off. I guess I’ll mention Brando here too. The five year promise to get root beer floats and eat at IHOP must be accomplished before we part ways. Angela is off to New York. Cries. How strange our friendship is. David. Blah. There is always graduate school too!
I think I’m satisfied with my senior year. I have achieved my highest personal GPA: a 4.6 weighted. A freaking 4.6. 5 classes total, 4 of them AP. I’ve also had some of the best experiences this year due to my friends.
Trying to leave high school with no regrets.
University of California, Riverside acceptance! My first UC acceptance letter. I admit I was getting a little worried when people received their notifications of acceptance through e-mails a couple of weeks ago. Even though I never got an e-mail, I actually got the tangible acceptance letter through the mail. :D
Though the chance of me going to UCR isn’t very likely, the satisfaction of being accepted still overjoys me.
I have now been accepted to Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, and University of California, Riverside. 4 schools down, 5 more to go.
